Submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. All submissions should report original and previously unpublished research results no matter the type of research paper you are presenting. Manuscripts should meet the format set by the Conference committee and are subject to review. Prof. Dr. Stuart James Mackay

TDCR, MSc, PhD, SF(HEA)
Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool

Presentation Topic: Problem-based Learning an Interactive, Flipped-Classroom Pedagogic Approach

Dr Mackay qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer in Liverpool and worked as a radiographer for 10 years in London. He then moved into radiography education and has been teaching and researching in Radiography and associated fields for over 30 years. In 2007, he was appointed as Professor of Medical Imaging Education at the University of Salford.

In 2013, he was appointed as Head of Programme for Diagnostic Radiography. For the last three years has been deputy lead for Academic Quality in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Dr Mackay was a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Health and Care Professions Council from 2009 – 2013. He has been a reviewer for Diagnostic Radiography programmes for the Society and College of Radiographers for over 15 years and is a member of the National Award and Approvals Board of the College of Radiographers. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

He was curriculum development lead and programme leader of a BSc Diagnostic Radiography Programme which was the first fully integrated problem-based learning (PBL) radiography degree in UK in 2000.
